For those who don’t know, Kwanzaa is an annual celebration of African-American, and Pan-African, culture that takes place between December 26th to January 1st. The celebration is a relatively new one and was founded in 1966. The name Kwanzaa is derived from the phrase matunda ya kwanza which means first fruits, or harvest, in Swahili. Celebrations often include singing and dancing, storytelling, poetry reading, African drumming, and feasting; with each day representing one of seven guiding principles - each representing seven values of African culture.
In the feature, the duo discuss their roots, Kwanzaa, what it means to them and curate an edit of their favourite MATCHESFASHION gifts, accompanied by stunning photography by Ricardo Simal.
